A Roy L. Tribute to Elvis

Reviewer: Laura

We ventured out into the cold January air to Hiawatha to see our very first live Elvis performance... well, almost Elvis! Hiawatha was a great venue as always. Love the lightshows they do behind the performer, they match the era of the music so well! They didn't have bar servers that night but the wait at the bar was very short as the staff behind the bar seemed quite coordinated and personable. A young version of Elvis came out and took the crowd by storm, girls screaming right from the start! Roy Leblanc was chosen Worlds Best Elvis Act 2003 in Las Vegas , NV and we could see why! That's impressive as we all know that their are a ton of Elvis impersonators, in all shapes and sizes. Physically 'Elvis' did a good job looking like The King and he showed quite quickly that he had the moves down. It was the second show of the evening and He did not look tired nor did his show reflect the double booking. He sang a real variety of songs including Blue Swede Shoes, That's Alright Mamma, All Shook Up, & Hound Dog.

The crowd loved the show and girls started dancing almost immediately. Next thing you knew the dance floor was packed with all ages. I have gone to many shows at Hiawatha now and I must say this was the most diverse crowd I have ever seen there. There were more young people here then I saw at Shania Twin. I also made an observation that taught me something I didn't know. I had no idea that Sarnia had a group of local women of the Red Hat Society. They were quite a large group and they looked to be really enjoying the show, as we all did! There were some girls that looked to be in their early 20's with a big Elvis flag that walked around the tables also and threw flowers at Elvis as he sang. He was very receptive to the attention, although it is only fun till someone loses an eye, lol. Elvis left the stage half way through the show to change into another traditional Elvis outfit (both very sharp) and we were entertained by his band during the switch. They were great! They did 4 songs, all oldies, and each member had their own solo part, both vocally and instrumentally. Very impressive and it totally complemented the show and 'Elvis' upon his return.

Great show and I totally recommend if he comes back and your an Elvis fan you should pop out there and check him out. You can't help but stamp your foot and sing along. I'd have to say this was one of my favorite tribute shows.
