Mitch Ryder

Wednesday Night, March 26th I had the pleasure of attending another amazing show at Hiawatha. We went to see Mitch Ryder jammin’ in the clubhouse and he was great! I went with a girlfriend and as it happened we were just late enough that someone had scooped up our 2-seat table and we got to jump into a 4-seater which is always handy for the extra space to relax. The show had just begun and it was packed with a very diverse crowd with a wide age span which is always nice to see. The crowd boogied to the tunes such as “C.C. Ryder”, “Jenny take a Ride”, “Sock it to me Baby” and other favorites that the crowd knew well enough to sing along to. There wasn’t a still leg in the house!
Mitch also entertained the crowd by talking to them on a personal level. He expressed how grateful he is that he has their support which is refreshing to see that someone of his stature in the music community appreciates the people who helped him get to be the legend he is today. He also mentioned his new web-site at www.mitchryder.de which he is working on personally. They did an interactive song, “Bow Wow Wow Wow”, with the crowd so we could sing along with Mitch and the boys and the crowd really got involved. A gentleman from the audience was whistling loudly right on key as the song progressed and it made the song come alive and almost made a surround sound effect since the man was sitting within the crowd. Afterwards Mitch called the guy up to the stage and low and behold it was an old colleague who had worked with him in the past and was now a resident of Sarnia. That was just too cool, so naturally the crowd muscled him to get on stage and perform and it was awesome as he whistled thru his teeth along with the band to “Heart of Stone.” He didn’t want to give out his real name but wanted to be called “The Whistler” so if you are out there reading this somewhere Whistler, you Rock!
Then, of course, the crowd went crazy for the final tune of the evening as it was “Devil with the Blue Dress On”. Mitch and the boys received a well-deserved standing ovation as the evening came to an end. If he comes back to Sarnia I definitely will go see him again and recommend it to all who like any sort of old rock as he put on a fantastic performance!
